Rachel A. Mulholland's Bio:
Rachel A. Mulholland is a highly skilled professional with a proven track record of managerial success. She is exceptionally skilled at identifying barriers, developing sustainable solutions, motivating people, and delivering high quality results.
Ms. Mulholland is a consultant and program manager specializing in the Transportation Industry, Unmanned Aerial Systems and industrial applications of UAS technologies. She brings a decisive approach to strategic planning and a knack for cross-functional synthesis to all of her professionals endeavors. Since 2016, she has been leading a cross-functional team of 10 senior level SMEs on a high-level trespass mitigation project for Union Pacific Railroad, a Fortune 200 company. Under her leadership, the Trespass Mitigation Team has successfully produced a ground-breaking statistical model the can quantify the degree to which a trespass event is likely to occur throughout an entire railroad subdivision (approx. 300 miles of track per subdivision) and/or across multiple subdivisions at one time. Since its inception her team has analyzed over 1800 miles of railroad track. Her team's work is the first of its kind in the U.S. Transportation Industry, the success of which has gained much attention by other Fortune 500 companies and federal agencies alike. In 2017, her team was awarded by Union Pacific with the World-Class Safety Innovation Award.
In addition to the Trespass Mitigation Team, Rachel also manages the Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Program for Union Pacific. Along with Robert Meder, an Aviation Industry Expert with 30 plus years of experience, she is responsible for the design, implementation, continuous improvement and management of the entire UAS Program from top to bottom. This program is currently considered to be the largest industrial UAS Program in North America. Ms. Mulholland possess a sustainable business management style that is built around long-term solutions, teamwork, communication, consistency and transparency.
Prior to her current management role, Ms. Mulholland previously worked as a Project Manager where she designed and managed the full life cycle of 40+ operationally-focused analytics projects for Union Pacific Railroad, a Fortune 200 company. She has also worked both as a Research Associate and Independent Consultant, with the National Center for Intermodal Transportation, for several years during and immediately following the completion of her graduate studies at the University of Denver. In 2012, Ms. Mulholland received an award for Outstanding Research Presentation at the Annual Southeastern Transportation Research, Innovation, Development and Education (STRIDE) Conference.
Ms. Mulholland completed her graduate program at the University of Denver in 2014 where she earned her Masters of Arts in Psychology with a Research Concentration. She completed her M.A. Thesis on Women in the Transportation Industry, during which she engaged with over 300 organizational leaders and professionals in an effort to amass both quantitative and qualitative data on the experiences of women in the industry, where women are the minority.
Ms. Mulholland's thesis work produced a profile to be used in the recruitment and development of women within traditionally male industries. Her findings have been applied to the creation of educational outreach programs targeting women and other underrepresented populations in STEM industries. Ms. Mulholland received her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology with an Industrial/Organizational Psychology Concentration from Eastern Connecticut State University in 2009. During such time, she completed her senior honors project on the topic of women’s attitudes toward health and behavioral issues. She also secured one of the top internship opportunities available to undergraduate students in her program, which culminated in a job offer.
